April – House

This is the second song for our one song a month release called “House”. This song is 2 of 4 that we recorded with CrashFour’s old drummer Harley Wright. Thanks to Ryan Peck, Harley and I spent one weekend at the Boise Rock School and tracked all the drums for these four songs. A few months later Rebecca Martin and I spent a lovely day recording Rob Hill on bass guitar at Rebecca Scott’s house and also had a great barbecue with grill master Rob who provided us with a great burn from his habanero bacon burgers.

This song introduces the newest member to the Haywire Hopefuls Jon D Stefan from the band Radiodust who added Piano to the track.

A while back I was gathering up all of the old CrashFour photos and videos and organizing them to send to a friend. I wrote the lyrics to “House” the next day.

lyrics
Coming back to the house
That house I hope it’s still here
Walking into the home
That we haven’t been in in years

In this tired room
I read all the pages
Everyone I wrote for you
As I tried to make room
I just kept finding pieces
And everything that we took from you and you and you

I’m so sorry but I know that a sorry is never enough
I’m so sorry but a sorry is a sorry excuse for us
I’m so sorry but I know that a sorry is never enough

Walking through this house
I see everything it’s still here
But every room has changed
And rearranged the frames
And also the mirrors

In this boarded room
I read all the pages
Everyone I wrote for you
As I tried to make room
I just kept finding pieces
And everything that we took from you and you and you

I’m so sorry but I know that a sorry is never enough
I’m so sorry but a sorry is a sorry excuse for us
I’m so sorry but I know that a sorry is never enough

No matter what we say
You see nothing can change
The way the day was played
No matter what we do
You see nothing can change the way we were
To you
